Introducing Kandinsky
Today was our first art lesson of the new term.
We are beginning to learn about Russian born painter Wassily Kandinsky.
He was an abstract artist so his paintings didn’t look exactly like what they were meant to be.
We compared two of Kandinsky’s famous works and discussed images we could see.
Ideas of what could be seen included a mouse, buildings, mountains, a face, objects disappearing into a black hole and Alice falling down the rabbit hole into Wonderland.
After discussing primary and secondary colours, as well as the use of shade and tint we added colour to a Kandinsky picture.

Having fun coding
3M all love using the IT equipment.
This afternoon we coded on the ipads using Discovery Coding.
Then we used what we had learned to programme the Pro Bots.
This is the first time we have used Pro Bots and it was a little tricky at first.

Making Christmas Cards
Isaac and Freddie here.
On Wednesday 20th December we made amazing Christmas cards.
First, we all had our photo taken and we could choose whether to pull a silly face or a normal one.
Then we got to customise our pictures on the ipad to add Christmas effects.
We then got a piece of red card and a green piece of paper which we folded into a fan. We cut the fan into strips to make the parts of a Christmas tree and stuck them into the card. This made a pop up Christmas tree. We then decorated the inside of the card with stars and presents.
Once the inside of the card was finished we stuck our customised photo onto the front.
It was hard work but we hope you like the cards.
